Laura Markey

Laura Markey, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, CSCS (Owner of CPE) specializes in orthopedic manual therapy and exercise prescriptions. She graduated from Daemen College in Amherst New York in 1989. She completed her Masters degree in Orthopedic Manual therapy in 1993, Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy in 2006 and worked hard to achieve Fellow status with the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. Her challenges and goals include the creation of “facility(s) of choice for orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy” in the Quad City area. One of her passions is to teach other physical therapists around the country about manual therapy and orthopedic physical therapy. She teaches certification and doctoral programs throughout the United States to other physical therapists, treats patients and manages Center for Physical Excellence. She thrives on seeing others succeed and improve their lives. Laura’s hobbies include running, hiking, camping and furthering her education. Laura enjoys spending time with her two children, Alyson and Alex.

Chris Markey

Chris Markey

Chris Markey, PT, MOMT graduated from Daemen College with his Bachelors degree in physical therapy in 1989. He later completed a Master of Orthopedic Manual Therapy degree in 1997, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2001. Chris specializes in outpatient orthopedic manual therapy and exercise, sports rehabilitation, and aquatic therapy related to this. He participates in ice hockey, mountain biking, martial arts and tactical shooting.

Heidi Edwards, PT, OCS, CSCS graduated with her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Samuel Merritt College in Oakland California in 2004. She has been with Center for Physical Excellence for over three years. During her career with us, she has achieved her Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy, First Responder Certification, and Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Certification. Creating agility and sport specific training has been a passion of Heidi’s and she was trained and credentialed in the Competitive Athletic Training Zone (CATZ) for Prescott. She enjoys flying, photography, biking and hiking.

Steve Reid

Steve Reid, PT was raised in the Pacific Northwest and went on to receive a Masters degree in Physical Therapy in 1996 from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA after earning an undergraduate degree at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. His 14 years in Physical Therapy include both acute care and outpatient care experience in a variety of settings from large hospitals to private practice settings. He has a passion for helping others reach their full potential in rehabilitation. Steve is known for his ability to motivate and empower his patients to reach their goals. He loves a hands on approach to patient care with an emphasis on exercise to restore function. He has been able to take many continuing education courses in Physical Therapy for spinal and joint rehabilitation. He has expanded his learning by becoming a licensed Realtor in the state of Arizona in 2005. Steve, his wife and family relocated from Phoenix ten years ago to Prescott and have absolutely loved living in this community and raising their children. Steve is very active with his 3 children by coaching them in YMCA basketball and Prescott Little League in addition to teaching weekly in the children’s department at the Heights Church. He has a love for helping others in the Tri-city area community through a small group that he and his wife lead called the “Give Big”.

James Maiorana

James Maiorana grew up in the heart of sunny Southern California. He has been involved in athletics since the age of 5 starting with baseball, soccer and wrestling. His interest in athletics led him to become involved in competitive soccer, competitive natural bodybuilding, competitive judo, and later, back to school at Northern Arizona University, where he used Exercise Science, Physics and Chemistry as the backbone for his Physical Therapy education. James graduated from NAU in 2005 with his doctorate in physical therapy and moved back to California for a short time becoming acquainted with the world of private practice and Workers Compensation physical therapy.

James has gained experience in inpatient and outpatient therapy, orthopedics, manual therapy, strength and conditioning, biomechanics and various skills associated with industrial rehabilitation. James has an emphasis toward therapeutic exercise, functional based treatments and he appreciates working with functional, goal-driven patients.

Nicole Flippen, PT, DPT is a native to the quad city area and alumni of Bradshaw Mountain High School. She graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Northern Arizona University in 2010 with honors. She most enjoys the outpatient orthopedic setting and uses a combination of manual therapy and aquatic exercise to help patients achieve their goals

Nicole has a passion for helping others improve their quality of life through wellness. She enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with family.

Derek VanderRoest

Derek VanderRoest

Derek VanderRoest, PTA, was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. He became heavily involved in athletics in his teen years and participated in track & field, cross-country, swimming, and Shotokan karate. After living in Tucson, Arizona for a year after graduating high school, Derek enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He served in the infantry as a rifle squad leader and scout swimmer, where his job allowed him to see many diverse environments around the world. Derek received his therapy training at Macomb College in Michigan, where he graduated #1 in his class with an Associates of Applied Science in Physical Therapy Assisting in May of 2010. He then relocated to the Prescott area and began working at the Center for Physical excellence shortly thereafter. His interests lie in orthopedics and athletic rehabilitation, with an emphasis on therapeutic exercise to achieve one's goals.

Trish Fairbanks

Trish Fairbanks is Office Manager at the Center for Physical Excellence. She has worked in Medical Administration for many years, with 16 years of Medical Office Management, and three years at the Center. Trish was born in England, and enjoys travelling, hiking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
